(week 4) Yay shadows!

After the boyscout died by walking near the statues in the room beyond the north hallway, I made the decision not to go that way, and instead go search the other hallway. I made my way across the chain room, taking some decent damage ... stupid chains. Anyhow the others followed and I pressed on. Soon we found ourselves at a door at the end of the hallway. We searched it for traps and the elf opened it to find a room filled with writhing tentacles. Feeling the need to act 2' tall, the windling cast a magical spear into the tentacles, only to find himself being probed by one moments later. It did not seem to be hurting him but I felt it was a not a good thing, so I attempted to sever it. I missed it and soon I had my own probing tentacle. Unfortunately mine became a little too friendly and was soon stuck in my ass. I again made an attempt to sever it but failed. I finally yelled to the elf, "SHUT THE DOOR". He did and the tentacles retreated. I surveyed my ass to find it to be as it had always been, so aside from it being a creepy experience that will likely haunt my dreams, I was unharmed by the intrusion.

It was time for a sacrifice on my part, I would enter the room and search it the best I could. The elf once again opened the door and I made my first step in. I immediately found myself with a tentacle in my ass. Well this is nothing new, so I took another step and things changed ... now I had 2 tentacles in my ass. The 3rd and 4th steps added 2 more tentacles. I had gone this far, so I made the decision to be strong and continue on. I finally made it to the other wall and found nothing, except more more tentacles. Still having 4 intruders, I exited the room and once again yelled to the elf to shut the door. Once again the tentacles retreated. Worried about damage to my ass, I pulled down my pants and asked the party for a damage assessment. I received very little in the form of an answer but finally the windling stated that everything looked as it should. I was glad to hear the good news but I am disappointed by the party's lack of help on this matter.

Since the party had taken some decent damage over the past short while, we decided to rest for a day or two. So we made our way back to the base of the entrance and rested for 2 days. The party decided to set up watches for the night but I felt we were safe and did not participate. Instead I slept well for those 2 nights. We also noted that the elf once again cast a shadow and that made the party happy.

After the 2 days of rest, I made the decision that it was time to get the rope ladder back up the hole. With the help of the windling, enough rope was found and tied together in order to allow the rope ladder to be hauled up the hole and once again we would be able to come and go from the dungeon. Up top we found that Charles was sitting next to the hole and that a sturdy fence had been erected around the hole. There were also guards posted outside it. We asked what was going on and he informed us that the black robes were running the show now and that were were stuck here.

When we returned down the hole, we decided to try to find a way through the chain room without being serious injured. The windling cast a magical spear into the room, only to be attacked by a chain. Next the elf threw a pitchfork from all the way across the room but he was too attacked. I then decided to try walking through the room with my eyes closed but I was attacked. With all attempts failing I then decided to take the room in stride and sang a hardy dwarf song as I made my way through the room. I made it to the north hallway but did take some decent damage. The others followed. We made our way through the large empty room and to the room where the boyscout died, he was still there and still dead. I made the decision that the elf be the next guinea pig and he grudgingly agreed. He stayed behind the statues and was unharmed. The rest of the party followed.

Beyond the death statue room, was a hall leading to a 4-way. Left and right were rooms with 2 statues each. We passed those rooms and proceeded straight through the 4-way. Opening the door we found a large room with many deep holes in the floor, one having 9 children, each hanging from a cat horror, hanging from a chain to the ceiling. Standing in the middle of the room was a small child horror. He warned us that if we did not leave, that he would drop the children. Assuming they were already dead, we rushed in and killed the horror. On our entering the room, the children were dropped. We then killed all 9 cat horrors. The windling flew down each hole and the only thing he found was the children at the bottom of one.

In the far wall of the holey room, a tunnel led off. We followed it to find an odd thing, 2 nursery rooms, one pink and one blue. Each was filled with toys and candy. We searched them and then burned anything that could be considered "fun" for a child in an attempt to stop any children from wanting to come to this horror tainted place. Once we completed the burning, we worked our way back to the 4-way and investigated the statues. By chance, the elf was chosen to enter the room on the right and he did so, all the while grumbling about it. Upon entering the room the statues became animated and attacked. At the same moment the other 2 statues in the other room became animated and also attacked. We dispatched of them without too much effort and then decided to rest in one of the rooms for a few days, as a couple of the party were in poor shape. We ended up spending 5 days resting and during that time I worked on improving my melee skills.

Once healed, the party began to search the recently visited area. We found a secret door by the nurseries and opened it. Inside we found a large baby horror made of children and cats sewn together. It was helpless and we effortlessly destroyed it. Nothing else of interest was found in the dungeon, so we headed out.

When we arrived at the surface, we found a group of Thorin guards had arrived and were dealing with the black hoods. They also removed the fence around the hole. We informed them of what had happened and they searched the dungeon to find our words to be true.

The next few days were spent in battle at the fight contests. We all participated but only the windling made a profit. He was also invited to view the royal fight. The rest of us will likely spend that time in the pub, as we made no money during our recent campaign.
